History
The school has a strong focus on excellence and provides many opportunities for students to take Advanced Placement(r) courses. The school is ranked 14th in the state for its AP(r) participation rate and also offers IB (International Baccalaureate Program) classes. The school is small and the community is tight-knit with parents collaborating closely with teachers and taking an active role in their children’s education. Bronxville High School’s National History Day program is built into the ninth and tenth grade social studies curriculum. This year 34 students voluntarily entered projects in the NHD competition and five of them have been selected to advance to the regional competition, where they will interview with professors and scholars on their research findings. NHD gives students the opportunity to explore their own interests through historical investigation and present what they have learned in the form of an exhibit, paper, website, documentary or performance. NHD was founded in 1969 and has grown to become one of the nation’s premier educational competitions.
Academics
If you are considering Bronxville High School for your child, you should know that the school has a lot of fabulous pluses. The teachers are great, and the students are very intelligent. However, there are some serious minuses too. Parents and even some teachers openly ridicule the administration, including the principals and superintendent. And the system is also not geared to deal with problems quickly, which results in many issues.
In addition to a rich general education, the school offers a variety of academic enrichment programs. The academic program is well-rounded and includes the arts, sciences, social studies, math and languages. Students are exposed to a wide variety of subjects and have the opportunity to take advanced placement courses.
The school has an excellent music program. Students begin musical instruction in 3rd grade and choose a musical instrument to study in middle and high school. They may participate in band, chorus or orchestra. The band and choir compete yearly in the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) competitions. The school also offers a strong extracurricular program. Students may choose from a variety of academic clubs, student government and honor societies. They can also participate in drama, art and a variety of athletic teams.

Overall, I love the school! The teachers are always willing to talk with you after school and will stay late if needed. The academics are really great and the teachers are very knowledgeable. They also set up extra help for students that need it. The only thing I don’t like is how liberal the teachers are, they often share their opinions and politics with the students, especially in english and history class.
Students have a lot of freedom to choose their classes, and are pushed to do well in all of them. The school also offers a wide range of clubs and activities for students to get involved in.
The sports program at Bronxville is very competitive. It has a lot of talented athletes and many of them go on to play college sports. There are many different teams, so it’s easy to find your niche. The school also hosts senior night for the last game of each season, which is a fun way to honor the seniors.
The administration at Bronxville is very organized and friendly. They are constantly improving the school to make it better for everyone. The only downside is that they are very expensive, but I think this is a result of the area it’s in and the top notch education they provide.
