As Dynamic Fitness prepares to open its newest location in Moncks Corner, Mollohan says the company “genuinely cares about people.” The service-first operation is the antithesis of big-box gyms, he adds.
Today, gym and fitness culture is a multi-billion-dollar global industry. But it has a long and storied history.
Personal Training
When you’re ready to take your fitness to the next level, a personal trainer can help you get there. Personal training can increase your endurance, strength, and flexibility. It can also improve your cardiovascular system and overall health. Choosing the right trainer can make all the difference. There are several factors to consider, including the type of training you want and your budget.
Personal trainers offer one-on-one sessions to help clients achieve their goals. They also provide instruction and guidance on how to perform exercises safely and effectively. Some trainers specialize in a specific area of exercise, while others are more generalists. Some may even specialize in a particular type of client, such as seniors or athletes.
As a Certified Personal Trainer, Jonathan has a strong foundation in many different exercise modalities and is comfortable working with all ages and levels of fitness, both one-on-one and group training. He is proficient in a number of martial arts disciplines, specifically self-defense & MMA, boxing and thai boxing, as well as functional training and core/stabilization training.
He brings a unique approach to his clients by focusing on the basics and key fundamentals to ensure success. His knowledge of the body and its function, as well as a breadth of industry experience, allows him to bring purpose and meaning behind each session.
Collegiate and College Prep Performance focuses on year-round physical training to address proper periodization to enhance athletic performance and prevent injury. DFTS(tm) is designed for multi-sport athletes with more than one competitive season in a calendar year.
Incorporating different healing modalities, such as MELT, Yoga and Qi Gong, Claudia blends her training and experience to focus on the whole person. Her training is centered around holistic biomechanics, functional movement and core/stabilization.
With a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology from William Patterson University, Andy has always been passionate about helping people live their best life. His passion for personal training began at a young age and continues to grow. His approach is to educate his clients and guide them to their health and fitness goals by building trust and creating a positive atmosphere.
Group Training
Fitness culture is a large-scale social movement that produces practices, values, and norms that are circulated among participants through online communication. Using the methodology of participant observation, I am able to study how these fitness practices transform in response to the effects of social change on fitness culture participants’ behaviors. Because they primarily communicate with other members of their fitness community through online communication, fitness instructors are a good case study for studying how social transformation processes shape the world in which they work.
To better understand how the dynamics of social change affect their daily workout routines, I am interviewing instructors who teach classes at a Dynamic Fitness facility in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. This location is one of four in the company and features a full array of cardio decks, functional training stations, free-weight areas, and a circuit training zone. In addition, they offer a diverse selection of group exercise classes, including yoga, Zumba, spinning, and body pump.
The design challenge was to create a gym that accommodates multiple small group training modalities like boxing and TRX suspension training, while also streamlining class operations. Aktiv Solutions worked with the client to provide an aesthetic and practical solution that was in-keeping with the club’s brand standards and maximized storage for soft goods, free weights, and accessories. This resulted in a clean, sleek, and efficient design.
Nutrition Coaching
Fitness professionals can play a vital role in helping their clients make lasting behavior change. They can offer a wealth of support, including exercise and nutrition coaching. Nutritional coaches help their clients create dietary plans that are in line with their goals and training needs. They also educate their clients on how to prepare healthy meals and make smart food choices. This is a great way for fitness professionals to add a new service to their existing client base and expand their income potential.
For many people, fitness is more than just a hobby; it’s a way of life. When a gym becomes a second home, it can impact an individual’s entire health and well-being. That’s why Dynamic Fitness Co is more than a gym; it’s a community. It’s a place where members come to be surrounded by other like-minded individuals who all share the same ideology that there is always room for improvement.
The natural brick building integrates right into the neighborhood, and when I arrive at a Thursday community class, there’s an underlying sense of camaraderie. Arriving members greet each other as friends and coach latecomers on how to get started. The vibe is positive and encouraging, a stark contrast to many big-box fitness centers that seem to prioritize profits over the health of their clients.
In addition to offering personal training and group fitness classes, Dynamic also offers online nutritional coaching. This service is led by Registered Dietitian Anna Bartholemy, who provides ongoing guidance and support to help clients reach their goals. In addition to being a registered dietitian, she has been trained by the Health Coach Institute to provide world-class health coaching.
For athletes, nutrition coaches can play a crucial role in boosting their performance. These coaches take into account the athlete’s body composition, goals, training program, and competition schedule when constructing a diet plan. They can then make adjustments to the diet based on feedback and performance data. This service is often offered at a premium, but can be worth the investment for those who want to maximize their performance and reach their full athletic potential.
Wellness Coaching
Wellness coaching is an ongoing process that helps individuals develop self-awareness, self-determination and personal responsibility for their health and well-being. It also helps them examine and break through the barriers that stand in their way of making healthy lifestyle changes. This is done by creating an environment of trust and support, and by facilitating the development of new behaviors and habits.
While most people know what they should do to foster wellness, they struggle to put this knowledge into practice. A wellness coach’s role is to help a client build a system of healthy behaviors and practices that will support the person in living the life they want both now and in the future. This is accomplished through helping the client establish and maintain healthy goals, identify what supports or hinders those goals, and explore their relationship with these choices.
Both wellness coaches and health coaches use emotional regulation techniques in conjunction with nutrition, exercise and physical fitness goals to assist their clients. However, wellness coaches are primarily focused on improving mental health and stress management while health coaches focus on the more traditional aspects of physical health and fitness.
Health and wellness coaches can work with their clients in both in-person and virtual settings. They can also work with groups of clients who have similar health and wellness goals in order to maximize their impact. They typically have a background in psychology and may also have training in other behavioral sciences such as neuroscience, human development, cognitive behavior and organizational psychology.
Jene’ Feliciano, a yoga instructor and business owner, opened her own studio in Ardmore in 2016. She uses the space for her own workout classes called Dynamic Fit Moms, which is a Hip Hop Cardio class that she and fellow fitness trainer Sakiyah Watts host every Thursday night. The class is just $5 a week and is open to any mom who wants to get in shape while having fun.
A wellness coach’s job is to provide education and guidance on a variety of topics including stress reduction, sleep habits, nutrition, exercise, financial independence, and smoking cessation*. They also have the ability to help a client establish a healthy mindset and identify areas of improvement, such as positive thinking, gratitude, compassion and empathy.
